Clinical Experience

More Than 22 Years Focused on Disc-Related Care

Spinal decompression has been a core part of Dr. Michael McMurry’s clinical practice for more than 22 years. His experience includes evaluating and treating patients with disc bulges, herniated discs, degenerative disc conditions, sciatica, and other symptoms associated with disc and nerve compression.

Decompression also has a personal connection for Dr. McMurry. It provided meaningful relief during his own recovery from a significant spinal disc injury and has remained part of his long-term approach to maintaining movement and function.

When Pain Begins Changing the Way You Live

It May Be Time to Find Out What’s Contributing.

Disc problems can affect far more than your back or neck. Pain, stiffness, sciatica, numbness, tingling, or radiating symptoms can make it difficult to work, sleep, exercise, travel, and enjoy the activities that keep you active and independent.

If these problems are beginning to limit how you move, it may be time to determine whether a disc-related spinal problem is contributing.

  • Recurring back or neck pain
  • Sciatica or pain traveling into an arm or leg
  • Numbness or tingling
  • Difficulty walking, exercising, working, or sleeping
  • Concern that injections or surgery may be the next step

Conditions We Evaluate

What We Most Commonly See

Candidacy is determined by consultation and examination. Below is what we most commonly see and how decompression-based care applies.

Spine Care

Back & Neck Pain

Back and neck pain can involve disc, joint, muscular, or movement-related factors. Your evaluation helps identify what may be contributing to your symptoms so care can be based on your individual findings.

Disc Care

Bulging, Herniated & Degenerative Discs

For appropriate candidates, decompression is designed to gently unload targeted spinal segments, reduce mechanical stress around affected discs, and improve movement tolerance. Care may be appropriate for disc bulges, disc herniations, and degenerative disc conditions when clinical findings support this approach.

Nerve Compression

Sciatica & Radiating Pain

Pain, burning, tingling, numbness, or electric sensations traveling into an arm or leg may be related to nerve irritation or compression. Evaluation helps identify the likely source and whether decompression may be appropriate.

The Treatment

What Is Non-Surgical Decompression?

Non-surgical spinal decompression uses controlled, computer-guided distraction to gently unload targeted areas of the spine, reducing mechanical stress and creating a more favorable environment for recovery.

  • Gently unloads targeted spinal segments
  • Uses individualized, computer-guided treatment parameters
  • May be appropriate for selected disc-related conditions

Your treatment parameters are individualized based on your condition, examination findings, tolerance, and clinical response.

What Treatment Looks Like

What a Spinal Decompression Session Feels Like

During treatment, you rest in a supported position on the decompression table while a specialized harness and computer-guided system apply gentle, controlled traction to the targeted area of the spine. Treatment should feel comfortable, and settings can be adjusted based on your tolerance and response.

  • Comfortable supported positioning
  • Computer-guided controlled traction
  • Personalized treatment parameters

Patient Stories

In Their Own Words.

I am so happy I found this location and Dr. Mike! He actually takes the time to listen to what issues I’m having and plan my chiropractic visit around that rather than a quick, standard adjustment. He seems to really care about the quality of care and makes sure that my issues are addressed fully before I leave.

I’m 9 weeks postpartum and desperately needed a chiropractic visit. I’m very particular about who I see as I’ve worked in chiropractic and it isn’t always the easiest to find someone who really takes time with you when you are out of town. My husband ended up seeing Mike and let me know that he did an amazing job, recommending me to go in next. Mike was very thorough and knowledgeable, worked through my problem areas with me and was one of the best adjustments I’ve ever had. If you’re hesitant about popping in or trying a new DC, I would highly recommend Mike to anyone.
